With his Face-o-mat performance, Tobias Gutmann has been travelling the world for 10 years and has already met and portrayed over 5,000 people. In doing so, he strives to capture an abstract interpretation of the face, and capture "the sound of a person."
Since 2019, Gutmann has been developing in collaboration with Dazlus, Sai Bot, an art-creating artificial intelligence that draws portraits that transmit the Face-o-mat. With the Face-o-mat performance, Sai Bot and Tobias Gutmann jointly explore a new kind of creative encounter, that between humans and machines.
