At the foothills of Whiteface mountain, the Whiteface Lodge is surrounded by pine trees and, if you’re lucky, fresh snow. They offer multiple weekend packages, some of which include your choice of spa treatment, a three-course meal at their upscale dining room and a free town car service if you want to spend the evening exploring the downtown area. The snowy forest and frozen lake outside the Lake Placid Lodge are pure magic during the wintertime. Explore the area on foot, skis or snowshoes. Or get your adrenaline pumping on the nearby Olympic bobsled track or on a ride on the Cloudsplitter Gondola to the top of Little Whiteface mountain where you’ll have an Instagram-worthy view of the Ausable River and the Adirondack High Peaks. Each night, the lodge also hosts a bonfire by the lake, complete with hot chocolate and s’ mores. 

This resort overlooking Lake Mohonk has been welcoming guests to the Hudson Valley for 150 years. The Friends Lake Inn is smaller than other lodges in the area but still offers a luxurious weekend getaway. The boutique hotel is close enough to Gore Mountain that you can go skiing during the day and still be back in time for a five-course meal designed to match your favourite beer, wine or bourbon. If you’re looking for a little romance, you can also book a horse-drawn sleigh ride across the snow that ends with a candlelight dinner at the Inn.

Located on the edge of Otesaga Lake, the Otesaga Resort Hotel offers luxury and elegance any time of the year. Spend some time in the Otesaga’s heated pool, at the Hawkeye Spa, or visit the art galleries, local breweries and National Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum in downtown Cooperstown. Many of the suites at Otesaga include a private parlour, which is perfect for taking in the views with your morning cup of coffee

Owned by the parents of an Olympic skier who trained on the slopes of nearby Whiteface Mountain, Mirror Lake Inn is an award-winning resort on Lake Placid.
