If you feel like you’ve been hearing more about wellness retreats and vacations, you’re right. Wellness tourism is on the rise and projected to grow by 43% between 2015 and 2020. Wellness tourism isn’t one-size-fits-all, and as hotels rush to meet the trend, the idea of wellness tourism is expanding. Whether travelling solo, with the family, gathering the ladies for a girl’s trip or even a gentleman's getaway, there’s a perfect option for everyone. Here are seven all-inclusive luxury options across America to set the bar high.

Mind & Body: Mii amo Spa, Arizona

Voted the #1 Destination Spa in the U.S. by Travel + Leisure magazine in 2019 and 2018, Mii amo is breathtaking, decadent and intentional. Yuman for “moving forward”, Mii amo leans into the area’s Native American roots and aims to leave guests feeling centred. Nestled in towering red rock, the resort hums with positive vibrations. All-inclusive three, four, or seven-night stays include three daily meals at Mii amo Café, fitness classes, use of the gorgeous spa and private consultation to find the best sessions or workshops for each individual. If the goal is pampered balance, Mii amo is an easy choice.

Great Outdoors: Magee Homestead at Brush Creek Ranch, Wyoming

Part dude ranch, part yoga retreat, the Magee Homestead promises to introduce guests to “the true spirit of the West.” One of the smallest of Brush Creek Ranch’s group of properties, Magee is decidedly more tranquil. It could be the creek-side locale, the luxury spa, or the fact that this Relais & Châteaux property is adults-only. Nine well-appointed cabins are open between May and October. Find balance and adventure and manifest destiny under Big Sky country. Release your inner cowboy with horseback riding, take in the scenery by bike, or join a “yoga hike” and try out Warrior 2 on the edge of a boulder. The other Brush Creek properties are nearby and offer archery, rock climbing, fly fishing, golf and even cattle wrangling.

Fitness: The Ranch, California

A celebrity favourite, The Ranch is basically the nicest boot camp you could sign up for. Their four to 10-day retreats could be the perfect way to kick start a fitness-based New Year’s resolution, so grab a mate and commit to a healthier version of you. Each day includes eight hours of exercise ranging from mountain hikes to weight lifting to deep tissue massage. Participants have the chance to try the infra-red sauna, acupuncture and even cryotherapy. Meals are plant-based and there’s a weekly cooking class so guests can take their new skills home.

Energy: Sedona Mago, Arizona

Sedona is home to four energetic vortices, and its energetic power can be compared to Stonehenge. The Sedona Mago is a centre for spiritual awakening and holistic healing offering retreats in finding the true self. The programs here are aimed at the mystical, employing the healing powers of the surrounding high desert red rock. Proximity to the Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (90-minute drive) and single night retreat options make Sedona Mago incredibly accessible, especially for the solo traveller. One such example is the Full Moon Retreat: a one night, two-day offering that includes meridian exercises, outdoor energy meditation, full moon meditation and brain healing point meditation.

Water: The American Club, Wisconsin

An hour north of Milwaukee is Kohler, Wisconsin's most luxurious destination. Home to one of the country’s best golf courses, Whistling Strait, the idyllic wooded scenery unfolds to reveal The American Club, the iconic Five Star, Five Diamond resort. A stay here offers access to tranquil lakeside yoga, miles of hiking trails and the next door Kohler Waters Spa. Book a full day of water-based treatments at this five-star spa and melt away into salus per aquam (health through water). Lavender rain, waterfall massage, hydration wraps and healing waters treatments refresh tired muscles and calm the senses.
